Alan M. Chase

Alan M. Chase

Founder/Ingenuity Financial Services
Lead Financial Advisor/ RJFS

Originally from Michigan, Alan “got to Texas as quick as he could” and has spent the past 48 years reveling in warmer weather. He and his wife, April, have been married for most of those 48 years; they have three children and six grandchildren. When he isn’t working, you can find Alan doing CrossFit, working to perfect his fantasy football team, or watching the Houston Texans games with his Japanese bobtail cat, Shilo — if only Shilo could cheer louder! Alan is active in his church and occasionally assists April with projects around their home, which she designed and built.

Alan has more than 43 years of experience helping clients master the task of solving life’s financial puzzles. During the past 24 years, this work has been focused on comprehensive financial planning. With a distinct ability to break down the complex in a way that clarifies financial options, Alan’s simple, intimate approach helps his clients develop an in-depth understanding of financial matters. He has a strong sense of loyalty to those he serves, and his relationships with clients bring him great satisfaction. He is considered by many to be part of the family — a privileged designation he does not take lightly.

Alan entered the financial services industry in 1978 at the sales end of the business. Before striking out on his own in the late 1990s, he worked in management as a recruiter and a trainer. He is a Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) and a Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®), and he holds FINRA Series 7 (General Securities Representative) and NASAA™ Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law Registration) industry registrations. He is licensed in life and health insurance and became an Investment Adviser Representative with Commonwealth Financial Network® in 1999. Alan founded Ingenuity Financial Services in 2001 and currently serves as its president.

More recently, in 2013, Alan was proud to earn the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation. AIF® certification illustrates an advisor’s knowledge of ethical behaviors that follow a fiduciary duty to their clients. Fiduciary duty is considered the highest standard of care required by law and demonstrates Alan’s commitment to serving the best interests of my client above all else.

Alan has always enjoyed a good laugh and occasionally imagines that if he weren't a financial planner, he might be a part-time comedian—but then April reminds him he would have to be funny first!

Ian Chase

Ian Chase

Financial Advisor

Ian, Alan's son, is an outdoor and sports enthusiast. He strongly prefers playing sports to watching them but makes an exception when it comes to the Houston Texans. He shares season tickets with Alan and, together, they rarely miss a game. Ian, and his wife, Janelle, own a historic home near Woodlawn Lake where he can often be found doing many of the items on the “honey do” list required to maintain a home of that age.

Ian graduated from Texas State University in 2008, with a dual major in history and political science. Intending to pursue a degree in law, he spent a session at the Texas State Capitol working for the Senate and then serving on the staff of the Segura Law Firm in Austin, Texas. The Great Recession of 2008 changed the market conditions for attorneys, however, and changed Ian’s career trajectory, too. He joined Ingenuity Financial Services in 2011 and has never looked back.

Ian holds FINRA Series 7 (General Securities Representative) and NASAA™ Series 66 (Uniform Combined Securities Agent State Law Registration) industry registrations. He is licensed in life and health insurance and became an Investment Advisor Representative with Commonwealth Financial Network® in 2013.

Ian is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional. This designation requires an advisor to demonstrate planning proficiency in (1) personal finances; (2) risk management and insurance; (3) investment; (4) income tax; (5) retirement; (6) estate planning; and (7) financial plan construction. The national CFP® board approximates that only 30 percent of advisors obtain the CFP® certification.

As a CFP®, Ian strives to help clients identify their financial circumstances and goals and works closely with them to pursue their financial goals. Being an exercise aficionado, he likens this discipline to success with money management. While one trip to the gym, one five-mile run, or one IRA contribution is not likely to make a noticeable difference in your outcome, consistently setting goals and working toward them will get you where you want to be down the road — both with fitness and financial security.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Center for Financial Planning, Inc. owns and licenses the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, and CFP® (with plaque design) in the United States to Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., which authorizes individuals who successfully complete the organization's initial and ongoing certification requirements to use the certification marks.
